Our Project
The aim of our project is to increase knowledge about recycling on campus at IU. In our research, we found that many people do not recycle materials that could be recycled simply because they do not know that they are recyclable or where to put them to be recycled. To help combat this issue, we designed an app called RecycleIU that gives information on what can be recycled, composted, and thrown away as well as where such bins are located in dorms. In evaluations, we had people test out our app to assess the usability of it so we could make iterations and improve the design. We got feedback from our user tests that led us to add more written instructions within the app as well as adding a map key to help the user understand the icons that are used on the maps.
