Recycling @ IU

In this project, we analyzed the recycling habits of those living and working on IU's campus. We found many issues leading to a decreased amount of recycling and began to brainstorm solutions to these problems. We settled on one solution and began to develop an app to help the residents of IU and Monroe County recycle more effectively.

Our Project

In our research, we found that there is a decreased amount of recycling on and off campus. Despite this fact, we found that students believe that recycling is an extremely important and impactful issue. After learning about problems with recycling at IU, we began to brainstorm potential solutions and settled on an app that helps educate the residents of IU and Monroe County about recycling. In our evaluations of this app, we found that it did help users to recycle their items properly and informed them on how to continue to do so in the future. However, we did find that there was some confusion about the design of our app and some of its features. We ended up revamping some of the screens and features and worked to add more educational elements to the app.
