Our Project
The motivation behind this platform came from our group's own prior working experiences and the desire to help short-staffed small businesses that have scheduling hurdles with worker availability. Our teammate Joshua works in retail and is unable to get his desired hours scheduled; he often meets his needed hours from coworkers giving them away from a week in advance to the day of. Jarod's older sister created a community Discord chat group for restaurant servers and businesses in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Just one person's unplanned absence can ruin the day for employees, straining the morale of the team and negatively impacting the customer experience with the business.
QuickShift uniquely solves schedule reliability for businesses and the need for schedule flexibility for workers. By allowing personnel to work at their convenience and use skills in an industry they are already trained in, the business and contractor both win. Using the platform's predefined industry skillsets and search features, contractors can find the work that competitively pays them for their time. Businesses are then able to confidently know that their products and services remain consistent.

Sam is passionate about the subjects of machine learning and automation, as well as the coding language, Python. He is looking for a job in these areas, but any related field would be interesting to hear about. He has relevant experience in coding, Microsoft Office, and business.
Chazz Troester
Chazz is from South Bend Indiana. He majored in Informatics and minored in Sports Management and Marketing. Chazz now works for Dell as an inside sales representative.
Jarod Maxwell
Jarod is a tech enthusiast who's passionate about how informatics can be the intersection of programming and the humanities that interest us. For him, that's the weaving of programming, graphic design, human-computer interaction, and web design/development to create systems that not only work but work for the individuals using them.
