Our Project
Aldeas Inteligentes, or Smart Villages, is a Mexican Federal Government project that is actively working to provide digital access to rural and isolated communities across Mexico. Having already connected 83 communities, this project provides community residents with a range of wireless internet connection methods, STEM training, and support in community development projects aimed towards improving education, commerce, health, welfare, and other developmental aspects. Currently, administrators rely on project updates through a questionnaire completed by residents once every three months, but with long gaps between check-ins and no effective communication tool, it is challenging to maintain contact with the residents and ensure that the projects are receiving the attention they need for their completion. If there isn’t an effective tool to frequently track the status of community projects and reach out to community members, residents miss opportunities to gain recognition for their work, inspire greater involvement, and secure additional funding or support for their community development. Therefore, our goal was to create an information system that monitors the progress of the Smart Village initiatives, enabling these communities to stay in contact with curators for assistance, showcase their projects on an official website, encourage greater participation, and increase collaboration with other companies, ultimately increasing their potential for further development.

Ella is an Informatics major at Indiana University with a business cognate. She also has a minor in business and is passionate about the intersection of technology and business and how it can be used to better the lives of those it impacts.
Reece Foncannon
Reece is a student at IU Bloomington studying Informatics at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Reece is also minoring in Human-Centered Computing as well as Web Development.
Serra Arnold
Serra is an Informatics major at Indiana University of Bloomington, with a minor in Web Development and Design. Serra's journey in Informatics has ignited her passion for leveraging technology to enhance business productivity and daily life.
Nosadeba Imasuen
Nosadeba Imasuen is studying Informatics with a cognate in Graphic Design. He wants to explore different technological advancements and gain a deeper understanding to solve complex problems and improve our experiences with technology. He enjoys drawing, trying new foods, and skateboarding.
