Our Project
Our team designed a mobile application that aims to make it easier for both students and residents of Bloomington to access food assistance. The app provides delivery and pickup options, eliminating the need for individuals to visit local food assistance sites, which can be inconvenient and shameful for many. Through interviews and thorough research about food insecurity, our team was able to identify the underlying causes of food insecurity in Bloomington, and come up with a potential solution to this major concern.
LinkBig Points
- Pickup and delivery - our users are able to schedule a pickup order that allows them to choose a day that works for them to pick up their food order at a local food assistance site, in addition to reducing food waste by being able to enter any dietary restrictions. If the user does not have transportation, we offer delivery options to have the order shipped straight to them
- Donate - users are able to donate where 100% of their donations are put towards bettering our app or helping food organizations
- About - users always have access to the about page that allows users to understand what the app is all about and know who the creators are
- Ratings & reviews - users are able to see what others have to say about our application and leave a review of their own. Any feedback provided to us will be used to make our app more fit to users
- Kitchen appliances - users are able to modify their food preferences so that the user only receives food in which they can prepare depending on the appliances that they have access to (e.g., microwave, stove, etc.)
