Our Project
We plan on incorporating an app that would allow access to ride these electric buses that every IU student has access to use. Downloading the app gives students rewards based on their mileage/how many times they use the bus and sending referrals to other students to download and use the app + this new public transportation option. By only substituting two or three of the IU diesel powered buses to fully electronic, carbon emissions emitted from these forms of transportation would reduce significantly.
The app's mileage-based rewards system is a streamlined approach to combating climate change. It not only motivates students to use the electric buses more frequently but also quantifies their positive environmental impact. The referral program is a great way to spread the word and get more students on board, creating a ripple effect of sustainability.
Additionally, transitioning a couple of IU's diesel-powered buses to fully electric is a practical step towards reducing carbon emissions. This move not only aligns with environmental goals but also sets an example for other institutions to follow suit. The positive impact on air quality and overall sustainability could contribute to a more eco-conscious campus environment.
