Our Project
Our project focuses mainly on the patient rather than the healthcare professional. Our primary research informed this decision. Generally speaking, patients desire more change in the healthcare system than the medical professionals with whom we spoke.
On the initial opening of the application, users are asked to input their language preferences, allow location services, and input their insurance information so that the application can recommend doctors and provide translations and medical information in patients' own language. We utilized Figma to create an application prototype. While our prototype does not change languages, our hope that is in the future, the application will be fully functional. The application also serves as a way for patients to check in to medical appointments, using a QR code built in the app. If the application were to be adopted in real medical settings, there would also be a way for doctor's to utilize the app. When patients check in, their language preferences would be sent to the doctors and the correct exam room. The exam room would have a camera that would record and translate the medical visit to give to the patient.
There are also many other features of the app that aim for holistic patient care such as an AI-powered chat-bot, in any language, that could answer medical questions.
Big Points
- Utilized by patients, regardless of background
- Mobile device application
- Opportunity for medical setting integration and professional use
- Translation & transcriptions, appointment booking, AI medical chat-bot, patient history, prescription information
