Our Project
EcoEats is an app that allows students to see the nutrition information and ingredients for meals on the menu depending on their selected serving size. The app also helps educate students on healthy eating tips, food waste facts, and other relevant information. When the student is done eating, a QR code in the app allows them to connect to a scale in the dining hall where they can weigh how much food waste they have. After the weight is recorded, they will be given information about their waste and how many points they are rewarded, the less waste the more points the student will receive. These points can eventually be traded in for IU merchandise or dining dollars that will allow the students to collect other rewards such as a Starbucks coffee.
