Climate

The topic for our group's project was climate change, in which we specifically focused on rising sea levels impact on the present and future, as well as how it is caused. Our group wanted to bring awareness to people in our area by creating an app that gives users information about potential vacation and coastal destination spots that our target audience might want to visit. Our app also gives feedback about how we can help save our oceans from air pollution and stop sea levels from rising.

Our Project

Our project is a mobile app that allows users to input a coastal area or city and the app can output a lot of different information that informs users whether the are they have inputed is safe to travel to or not. Aside from telling users if the area is currently safe or not, the app also gives information about future predictions of the area, regarding how much the sea level will rise in the area and as well risks of living in the area and main causes of bad air quality in that specific area.

While designing our project, some of our group's main focuses were to make the app very simple, and easy to understand, while also making the overall design aesthetically pleasing. We made sure to make each button distinct, and clear that it was interactive so users would not get confused. We also wanted to focus on having a main page that stands out to the user because that is the first impression the user will have of our app, and we want to make sure they stay engaged.

The main purpose of our app is to inform citizens of Bloomington and IU students of the potential risks and danger that coastal cities face because of air pollution and rising sea levels. We know that especially with IU students that we love to go on vacation during our breaks during the school year and if sea levels rise to much and air quality gets to bad then those vacations we all love will be no longer, so that is why spreading awareness about this issue is so important.

Big Points

  • Our target audience for this project is Indiana University students as well as citizens of Bloomington, Indiana.
  • Our app would be used for people who are wanting to plan a trip to a city on the coast.
  • Our app would be widely available, as we would make it useable on all devices like phones, tablets, and computers, as well as it making it available for all brands like Apple, Samsung, and whatever other popular brands there are in the world.
  • We also make our app available worldwide, and not just available in the United States.
