Shakespeare Sham [Example]

In 1794, some two hundred years after the death of William Shakespeare it was announced by Samuel Ireland that his son William had made a discovery of a collection of unpublished works by the old playwright, along with a deed of gift from Shakespeare to the Ireland Family. By 1805, an unknown compiler had compared the Ireland discovery with known legal material from Shakespeare and others and composed this scrapbook as evidence that the new Shakespeare plays were forgeries created by William Ireland. This scrapbook is known as, "A collection of the Ireland fabrications, 1805."
