Computer & Information Ethics FA23 INFO I453 Projects in this course have been archived. Students who wish to share their work publicly should email the instructors. This course explores the ethical issues that arise in the context of designing and using computing and information technologies (ICTs)—in a global context. Students create a Global Case Study that explores an ethical dilemma relating to computing and information technology in a specific country—other than their home country. The case study can be presented in multiple formats.

Technological Nature SP23 Projects in this course have been archived. Students wishing to share their work publicly should email the instructor. In I400/590 Technological Nature, students explore and discover the relationships between technology and nature. No matter the place—city, forest, desert, or space—as humans our ideas about technology and nature are shaped by each other.

I407/I507 - Introduction to Health Informatics Students in I407/I507 Introduction to Health Informatics will be able to describe the scope of how technology can improve health and well being. Students will be able to discuss past, ongoing, and emerging research in health informatics, with an emphasis on research being performed at Indiana University. They will describe key challenges for different types of health technologies and demonstrate how technology designs use health theories. Throughout the semester, students will critique how social and political factors impact design and adoption of technology for health. Finally, they will create digital media about health technologies (e.g. articles, videos, and infographics).
Computer & Information Ethics INFO I453 FA22 Projects in this course have been archived. Students who wish to share their work publicly should email the instructor. The purpose of I453 is to explore the ethical issues that arise in the context of designing, and using information technologies (ICTs). These digital learning portfolios are a way to reflect about and show case the learning that took place during the course. In the words of John Dewey, “We don’t learn from experience; we learn from reflecting on experience.”
ProHealth REU The Proactive Health Informatics REU aims to build usable and intelligent pervasive systems that empower people to manage their health and see how their everyday decisions impact their progress to achieve future health goals. Our REU site provides students with a unique opportunity to learn techniques in the areas of human computer interaction, pervasive computing (mobile or wearable), environmental sensing (ambient and on-body), and the implications of technologies on society.
